Waukesha, Wis. – Chosen Inc. (“Chosen”), a non-profit ministry dedicated to supporting foster and adoptive parenting, will celebrate the relocation of its Waukesha headquarters and Family Closet June 20 with a 4 p.m. ribbon-cutting, hosted by the Waukesha County Business Alliance.

Previously located in downtown Waukesha, Chosen recently moved to the city’s south side, at 400 Travis Lane, #30. The locale offers much-needed inventory space for the Family Closet, which provides free clothing and children’s items to foster and adoptive families.

“This larger office directly reflects the growth of our organization, both in providing services and receiving more Family Closet donations than we ever dreamt possible,” said Karen Schlindwein, Vice-President of Education and Development for Chosen. “With the opening of our West Allis branch in February, the need for a bigger main office became abundantly apparent, both for daily operations and accepting and storing donations.”

Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Laura Lau will speak at the June 20 ribbon-cutting. Event sponsors are The Edge Contracting, International Monetary Systems, Norris Beyond Fostering, Waukesha County Foster Care, , Wellpoint Care Network, Children’s Community Health Plan, Once Upon a Child-Brookfield and We Energies Foundation.

Donations of clothing and kids items are accepted at Chosen’s Waukesha and West Allis (6751 W. Greenfield Ave.) locations Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Foster and adoptive families can pick up goods by appointment.

Since its founding in 2016, Chosen has served more than 475 families from 13 southeastern Wisconsin counties, caring for more than 1,000 foster or adopted children. The two Family Closets have given away more than 35,500 items.
Chosen’s next big event, its “Walk on the Wild Side for Foster Care,” is Sept. 10 at the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Chosen is dedicated to educating the public about the impact of adoption and fostering, and providing spiritual, material, and emotional support to families who have chosen these oft-misunderstood paths. Chosen shares resource referrals to other organizations and professionals to help meet the needs of adoptive and foster families. Its long-term goals include opening a multi-family foster community to care for children in need of a loving home.
