Haws jumps into action in 2019!

The Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) wastes no time jumping right into the action in 2019!
 
Wings of Rescue landing at HAWS:
This Saturday, January 5th, a flight originating in New Mexico and Texas will bring over 100 dogs to Crites Field in Waukesha. Sponsored by FreeKibble.com, GreaterGood.org and Wings of Rescue, HAWS, along with shelter partners Elmbrook Humane Society, Jefferson County Humane Society, Watertown Humane Society and Washington County Humane Society will all have the dogs available for adoption within the coming weeks. Flight arrival time to be determined on Saturday; HAWS’ transport coordinator Jessica Pinkos will be available Saturday to confirm at 414-587-7200, prior to 3pm.
 
Saturday A.M. Recess:
Chase away doggie cabin fever on Saturdays from January 5th through March 30th! Central Bark Doggy Day Care, W227N6193 Sussex Road, Sussex, opens their indoor play area to the public from 10am-noon for supervised playtime for only $5/dog, with proceeds benefitting HAWS. No pre-registration necessary; call 262-246-8100. Access may be limited due to capacity and/or behavior.
 
Mardi Paws Party!
HAWS’ joins the County-wide Waukesha JanBoree with a party at the shelter on Saturday, January 26th from 11am-3pm. This family-friendly day includes games, crafts, Paw Reading fortune teller, raffle prizes and the Royal Court of Adoptable Pets! Stay for lunch, sponsored by the Friends of HAWS. Free to attend! Pets welcome - please bring pets on a 6-8' leash or in a carrier for safety and comfort.
 
Making new Friends of HAWS:
Resolve to get involved with HAWS’ fundraising and event planning group. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month, at 7pm at HAWS. Save the date for the Have-A-Heart Bake Sale & Café (2/9), Media Sale (3/9) and the 36th annual Romp ‘n Rally fundraiser (5/4).

 
Reminders for pet owners: 
Owners are required to purchase an updated license for their pet(s) annually.
  Check individual municipalities for details. Keep pets safely indoors when the temperatures dip, other than for quick potty-breaks and very short walks. Clean salt off sensitive paw pads and check ears for frostbite!

January PET-cetera at HAWS:
  • Puppy Parties – every Sunday from 4:45-5:15pm. Pre-registration required at hawspets.org.
  • Pedicures – cats (1/12 & 22) and small animals (1/9 & 19). Dog nail trims available anytime on request.
  • GPA-WI greyhound meet’n’greet (1/26), in HAWS’ lobby.
