July 11th Ice Cream Social and Cook-Out To Benefit Humane Animal Welfare Society - Waukesha
Throughout the year, Good Harvest hosts events which that benefit the local community. “When we think of July, we think of heat and cool summer treats. Last year’s HAWS Ice Cream Social was a huge success so we wanted to do it again”, said Jody Nolan, Co-Owner of Good Harvest, "and this year our new location has even more space for families to enjoy our cookout and to meet the animals HAWS will be bringing".
Good Harvest will be serving build-your-own organic ice cream sundaes for $3, as well as grilled hot dogs for $2, and Brats and Portobello Mushroom Sandwiches for $4. They will also have tap beer for just $3. All of the proceeds from the food and ice cream sales will be donated to HAWS.
HAWS is a non-profit organization established in 1965 that assists over 6,000 animals each year and welcomes more than 31,000 human visitors annually. As an “open admissions” shelter, they accept animals regardless of age, health, temperament or breed. Their active humane education department offers programs and services that promote responsible pet ownership, preventing animal abuse and neglect in the community and beyond.
Since 2005, Good Harvest Market has improved the health of local community members by offering the largest selection of organic products in the area, educating area residents about better choices in their food and overall health and reducing its carbon footprint by offering as many local products as possible. In April of 2015 Good Harvest opened their larger, state of the art facility just 1/4 mile west of their previous store location. A portion of their sales goes to local causes and organizations. Good Harvest is located at 2205 Silvernail Road in the city of Waukesha, just south of I-94 off Exit #293.
Good Harvest Market store hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-9pm, Saturday, 8am-7pm and Sunday, 10am-6pm. The Harvest Cafe hours are Monday through Friday, 7am-8:30pm, Saturday, 7am-6:30pm and Sunday 9am-5:30pm.
