The 6th Annual Southeast WI Festival of Books Announces Keynote Speakers

The Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books in Waukesha returns for its sixth year spotlighting writers who live in Wisconsin or are connected to the state. The two-day festival celebrates its sixth year with the theme "Words for a Lifetime."

This year's literary festival takes place November 6-7 at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, 1500 N. University Drive. Admission and parking are free.

The two Keynote Speakers are:
  • Writer, artist and social entrepreneur Dasha Kelly, 6:30 p.m., Friday, November 6. Ms. Kelly is the founder and director of Still Waters Collective, a Milwaukee based outreach initiative utilizing the transformative power of the written and spoken word. A HBO Def Poetry alum, Dasha recently traveled to Botswana as a U.S. Embassy Arts Envoy. Almost Crimson is her second novel. For more information: http://dashakelly.com/
 
  • Novelist Elizabeth Koehler-Pentacoff, 2 p.m., Saturday, November. 7. An author of ten books, her latest is The Missing Kennedy:  Rosemary Kennedy and the Secret Bonds of Four Women, based on her personal experience with President Kennedy’s sister and the author’s beloved aunt, Sister Paulus, Rosemary’s caregiver and devoted friend.  This book was recently featured on the cover of People Magazine and will debut at the Festival. Attendees may purchase a copy of Almost Crimson by Dasha Kelly and/or The Missing Kennedy by Elizabeth Koehler-Pentacoff and receive one or two reserved seats for the Keynote events. Books may also be purchased at the Marketplace Bookstore the day of the event, but a seat will not be reserved. Limit first 100 per Keynote session.

More than 75 writers, in varying genres, for adults are scheduled to appear at the festival. In many cases, writers will give presentations or take part in panel discussions, then go to the signing area to inscribe books and meet readers.

Returning to the Festival is a Writer Marketplace for writers who publish their own books, a Cookbook stage and various exhibits. New to the festival are Farmer’s Market vendors and “live art” in which attendees may participate being made by local artists Trevor Huskey and Arthur Mohagen.
