Top Floor and the School District of New Berlin Partner on Job Fair

NEW BERLIN, WI, April 24, 2012 – Top Floor Technologies has joined efforts with the School District of New Berlin, the City of New Berlin, Chamber of Commerce and local businesses to host the 1st annual career and job fair on May 23, 2012. According to Dan D’Amore, Top Floor’s Senior Account Executive, approximately 800 junior and senior students from New Berlin Eisenhower and New Berlin West High Schools will be introduced to over 80 local businesses representing a wide variety of market sectors.

The career fair will take place at the New Berlin West High School on May 23, 2012. It will feature three sessions: a career and job fair for students, job recruiting for community members, and a luncheon with keynote speaker Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and business leaders.

Top Floor Technologies is currently involved in planning, promoting and recruiting businesses for this community effort. "Our goal is to recruit 80 businesses," said D’Amore. "We are actively looking for businesses to attend and promote their companies to our next generation of workers."

Recent surveys from the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance indicated that the biggest challenge industrial manufacturers face today is attracting and retaining skilled labor. While 2 out of 5 manufactures plan to hire in 2012, the skilled labor shortage increased from 29 percent in 2011 to 45 percent in 2012. With these labor short falls in mind, Top Floor initiated and partnered with community leaders to align the needs of the businesses in recruiting and educating skilled labor with the resources in the community. The goal of the job fair is to "provide a face-to-face networking opportunity among three parties: local government, schools and businesses and create the awareness of how available and close to home, high quality, well-paying jobs really are," said D’Amore.
