WAUKESHA COUNTY EXECUTIVE PAUL FARROW INTRODUCES 2019 EXECUTIVE BUDGET

(WAUKESHA, WI) – Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow has introduced his 2019 Executive Budget to the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors. The budget cuts the County tax rate for the fourth consecutive year while falling under the state revenue cap. It invests in public safety; economic development; roads and infrastructure; and the initial stages of the new courthouse project. The County Board is expected to pass the final budget in November.
 
“This budget continues Waukesha County’s tradition of keeping taxes low while providing excellent services to residents,” said County Executive Paul Farrow. “Over the last four years, the county has remained $2.29 million under the state levy cap while lowering the tax rate.”
 
If the County Executive’s Budget is passed as-is, the 4-year annual tax levy change will be 0.95%. The tax rate would also drop from $1.95 to $1.89 per thousand dollars of home value.
 
The 2019 Waukesha County Executive Budget prioritizes justice and public safety. Dollar allocations to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department match its 2018 increase, which was the largest in seven years. It also funds Health and Human Services programs to help execute Waukesha County’s multi-tiered opiate overdose prevention and treatment work plan. The budget also funds phase one of the Waukesha County Courthouse project, which will break ground on construction of a new, secure courtroom facility next spring.
 
The budget continues to support the Waukesha County Center for Growth, an economic development partnership between the County, the City of Waukesha, the Waukesha County Business Alliance, and the University of Wisconsin Small Business Development Center.
