Waukesha County Residents Asked To Keep Propane Cylinders Out Of Recycling Containers

May 15, 2019
(WAUKESHA, WI) – With peak grilling season around the corner, Waukesha County reminds residents to recycle their propane containers right. Residents should not place propane cylinders into their curbside recycling container or trash.

“Improper disposal of propane tanks or other compressed gas cylinders in curbside containers can be extremely dangerous for collection and recycling facility workers,” said Analiese Smith, Recycling & Solid Waste Supervisor for Waukesha County. “These items can also cause costly damage to the equipment.”

Residents are encouraged to return or exchange propane tanks at local retail stores. A detailed Curbside Recycling Guide with information about what items can be recycled curbside is available at www.waukeshacounty.gov/recycling.
