Waukesha Education Foundation, Inc. announces 2019 Community Partner Award winners
The recipient of the 2019 WEF Corporate Partner Award is SPX Transformer Solutions, Inc. located on
Prairie Avenue in Waukesha. SPX was nominated for their involvement with the MADE (Manufacturing, Automotive, Design, Engineering) program which offers job shadowing experiences, tours, and workshops that provide industry exposure to students. One recent noteworthy initiative was starting the FE-MADE subcommittee to promote and mentor female students in careers within the MADE fields.
The recipient of the 2019 WEF Community Partner Award is Kyle Soderstrom and Culver’s Restaurant located at 2600 N. Grandview Blvd. in Waukesha. Culver’s on Grandview works to support our schools in many ways by hosting fundraising nights that provide 10% of sales to fund programs, clubs, events, and activities. In 2018, nearly $60,000 was donated to schools and students from these events. Another special part of this community partnership is providing many sweet student treats as incentives, and also providing pints for staff celebrations and staff appreciation meals.
The recipient of the 2019 Sally Jo Michalko Lifetime Excellence in Education Award is Barbara Brzenk. Brzenk is being honored for her years of service to the School District of Waukesha as a Kindergarten teacher, an administrator, and for her years of service on the Waukesha Board of Education.
All three award recognitions will occur at the Evening for Education to be held at the Ingleside Hotel on Thursday, November 14, beginning at 5pm. The community is invited to this inaugural fundraising event for the Waukesha Education Foundation and tickets are on sale now, with sponsorship opportunities available. Since its inception, WEF has granted over $290,000 to support projects and initiatives that directly benefit the students of the School District of Waukesha, and has awarded over $195,000 in scholarships to graduating Seniors through their endowed scholarship funds. WEF relies on donations from the community to further the educational experiences of Waukesha students.
