Wilson Center to offer free family art workshops

January 26, 2015
Brookfield, WI Grab the kids' smocks and roll up your sleeves! Beginning this February, artists of all ages will delight in the Free Family Art Workshops offered at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts (Wilson Center).

Four workshops are currently scheduled: February 14, March 14, April 11, and May 9. All workshops will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Wilson Center's Edrie Martin Page Art Studio. Families are encouraged to register in advance at www.wilson-center.com/family-workshop-form or by calling (262) 373-5023. All skill levels are welcome and supplies are included for each Free Family Art Workshop.

Funded in part by generous donors to the Wilson Center, each workshop will be facilitated by a Wilson Center teaching artist and will offer families a great introduction to an artistic form or medium. "Due to scheduling and cost, we understand that it can be difficult for some families to commit to multi-week courses," said Wilson Center Visual Arts Manager Robin Luther. "The goal of this program is to eliminate those challenges and offer children and families the opportunity to experiment with a diverse range of media - from printmaking and painting to jewelry making and sculpture."

In addition to Free Family Art Workshops, the Wilson Center offers more than 60 visual art classes and workshops every year for adults, youth, and families. With courses in painting, ceramics, drawing, photography, and more, students of all ages are encouraged to expand their perspective.
