Eric Bailey Earns Accolades from Wisconsin Sign Association
Top Awards for Lemberg Sign Designer

Brookfield, WI (March 2020) – Lemberg is pleased to announce that Sign Designer Eric Bailey has been awarded top honors for his entries in the Wisconsin Sign Association’s 2019 Sign Design Contest. Bailey entered sign designs for Saint Kates Arts Hotel and Ironworkers Local 8, which won first and second place respectively.

At its annual Sign Design Contest, the WSA recognizes designers and sign companies for their impact on local communities through the creativity, effectiveness and excellence in design. Entries are evaluated by an independent panel for overall design, materials used, compatibility with the surrounding area. There are currently 11 categories including the two that included Bailey’s signs.
  • Saint Kate Arts Hotel: Bailey won first place in the “unique” category for the design of the illuminated channel letters that wrap the corner of the historic building. The category recognizes neon, LED and sculptural sign design. (Image shown.)
  • Ironworkers Local 8: Bailey won second place in the “pylon” category for his design. Pylon signs are freestanding signs that are usually double sided and lit. Bailey’s Ironworkers design incorporated rivets to reflect ironwork and included an integrated LED digital message unit.
“I appreciate that our industry celebrates design with these contests,” said Bailey. “It is something I always have in the back of my mind when working on projects, and a motivator to try push the envelope with sign design.”

Bailey and his team work with customers and their branding firms to conceptualize signage and find ways to use unique materials or use materials in a unique way, as they did with the Saint Kates Arts Hotel channel letters.  They consider location within the community and within the property as well as lighting, viewing angle and distance. A prototype is made, and the designs are tweaked. The final product is a sign that best represents the customer brand.

Winners were announced at the fall conference for the Wisconsin Sign Association. For more information about the contest and to see all the winners, visit the WSA website at https://www.wisconsinsign.org/
