Mental Health Treatment for Children and Adolescents Expanding at Rogers Memorial Hospital

July 02, 2014
(Oconomowoc, Wis.)  In an effort to meet the mental health needs of children and adolescents in southeastern Wisconsin, Rogers Memorial Hospital is adding new programs specific to this age group.

Rogers-Oconomowoc is adding a partial hospitalization program specifically designed to treat children and adolescents with moderate to severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), OC-spectrum disorders and other anxiety disorders.

“Our OCD programming offers various levels of care and by adding this child and adolescent partial hospitalization program, those with OCD or anxiety can get help while staying connected with family, friends and school,” said Paul Mueller, CEO. Rogers sees 80 to 90 patients per day with OCD and related anxiety disorders; about one-third of those are between ages 6 and 17.

In West Allis, Rogers child and adolescent day treatment program is growing with the addition of a general mental health partial hospitalization program for adolescents ages 13-18 with a primary diagnosis of anxiety or mood disorder.

“As children transition into adolescence, mental health problems begin to develop or, for those with existing problems, the disorder may become more complex. With the addition of our mental health partial hospitalization program, we can provide the support needed to reduce risky behaviors, improve decision making and hopefully provide guidance they can utilize for the rest of their life,” continued Mueller.

Both of these mental health programs meet six hours per day, five days per week and include intensive daily therapy utilizing evidence-based treatment components.

In the next few months, Rogers is also expanding the child and adolescent day treatment program in Kenosha. In addition, Rogers will open another adolescent mental health partial hospitalization program along with a child and adolescent OCD intensive outpatient program in Brown Deer.
