Chosen Inc. to Celebrate Foster, Adoptive Families at Feb. 25 “Open Hearts, Open Homes” Gala

January 10, 2023

The “family” of Chosen Inc. (“Chosen”), a non-profit ministry dedicated to supporting foster and adoptive families, will gather again Feb. 25 to celebrate these unique family-building journeys, and raise awareness of the many children awaiting foster homes.

The fifth annual Open Hearts, Open Homes Gala begins at 5:30 p.m. at Davians, N56-W16300 Silver Spring Drive, Menomonee Falls. The evening of food, friends and fun will feature a “Roaring Twenties” theme, with guests encouraged to dress the era and be eligible to win prizes.

Tickets are available through Feb. 8 at www.choseninlove.org/gala. A large variety of silent and live auction items will be available. Online bidding will open a week before the gala. Auction donations are still being accepted.
Former FOX6 journalist Beverly Taylor is the featured speaker. A professional mediator, she serves on Chosen’s Advisory Board, which helps guide the organization on many fronts.

Additional presentations will detail Chosen’s recent accomplishments. Since its last gala in 2021, Chosen Inc. moved its Family Closet to a larger space on Waukesha’s south side, and opened a second Family Closet in West Allis. The centers provide free clothing and children’s items to foster and adoptive families.

The Open Hearts, Open Homes Gala is the largest fund-raiser for Chosen’s hands-on programs, support and outreach to foster and adoptive families, and educational initiatives in the community. The event promises to once again be filled with stories of warmth, encouragement and “Fostering Forever Families.”

“We are thrilled to see our supporters, and thank them for empowering our outreach to foster and adoptive families,” said Karen Schlindwein, Vice-President of Education and Development for Chosen. “We’ve accomplished so much, none of which would be possible without them.”

A multitude of sponsors make the gala possible: The Edge Contracting, Exciting Events, International Monetary Systems, Norris Beyond Fostering, Just FORE Kids, Once Upon a Child – Brookfield, Wellpoint Care Network, Chorus Community Health Plans, Ozinga, 4imprint, Waukesha County Foster Care, We Energies Foundation, Flowers by Cammy, Meijer, Exciting Events, Grady, Hayes & Neary, and the Sarskas Family.

Chosen is dedicated to educating the public about the impact of adoption and fostering, and providing spiritual, material, and emotional support to families who have chosen these oft-misunderstood paths. Chosen shares resource referrals to other organizations and professionals to help meet the needs of adoptive and foster families
