Sandy Wysocki, director of audience development for The Milwaukee Business Journal, will receive the 2015 Don Richards Leadership Award, to be presented at the Alliance’s 97th Annual Meeting on Friday, Sept. 11 at Country Springs Hotel & Conference Center.

The Don Richards Leadership Award recognizes Wysocki’s outstanding achievements as a leader in the region, in addition to her tremendous community involvement with organizations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

“Sandy has worked to bridge Waukesha and Milwaukee counties and has a keen understanding of the issues affecting the region as a whole,” said Suzanne Kelley, president of the Waukesha County Business Alliance. “She is the true definition of a hands-on leader; numerous nonprofits and organizations throughout the community benefit from her time and service.”

Sandy is a member of multiple boards including the Waukesha County Business Alliance (immediate past Board Chair), Professional Dimensions, Milwaukee Women inc. (Board Vice Chair), Literacy Services of Wisconsin, the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, I Back Jack Foundation and The Women’s Center.  She is also a member of the Board Development Committee for the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast and Marketing Advisory Board for the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC).  She has also been a volunteer and cabinet member for the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County and the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF).

Over the past 13 years, Wysocki has led efforts resulting in circulation growth of the weekly print publication and email newsletters.   In her marketing role, she works with dozens of professional and nonprofit organizations in coordinating all marketing and sponsorship agreements.  A frequent speaker, Sandy also presents The Business Journal’s Smart Reader and Book of Lists 101 seminars to area companies and job seeker groups.

The Don Richards Award celebrates the life of the late Don Richards, who was publisher of The Business Journal and Chairman of the Board of the Waukesha Area Chamber of Commerce (now known as Waukesha County Business Alliance). The late Don Richards’ hands-on leadership, ethics and delight in achieving tangible results left a lasting impression on the Waukesha County business community. The Don Richards Leadership Award was created in his honor in 1993 to inspire and motivate business people to take community leadership roles in Waukesha County.
